Exo-rehabilitation of patients with spastic hemiparesis: high technology

چکیده

AIM: Walking disorders are a frequent consequence of stroke. New technologies, such as the use robotic exoskeletons, can help with recovery, but their effectiveness has not yet been sufficiently proven.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty-two patients spasticity and walking (stroke duration from 1.5 to 4 years) were included in study. The Tardieu Scale, Modified Ashworth scale, Medical Research Council 10 Meter Walk Test, Rivermead Mobility Index, Berg Balance Rankin Visual Analog Scale (to assess patient satisfaction treatment) used assessments. randomized into 2 groups (n = 22 20): first group received exoskeleton walk training powered exoskeleton, ExoAtlet, second physical therapy sessions, each for 1 hour daily over days. Clinical evaluations performed at 3 timepoints: baseline (Day 1), 12.
RESULTS: Comparison both timepoint showed significantly better results (p 0.05) vs group. speed increased due balance training, correction postural disorders, spastic muscle stretching, stretch reflex suppression.
CONCLUSION: wearable ExoAtlet is promising technology improving (2 tables, bibliography: 13 refs).

Spastic hemiparesis and presumed prenatal embolisation.

An infant with clinical evidence of prenatal right subclavian arterial occlusion subsequently developed left hemiparesis with cystic infarction of the territory of the right middle cerebral artery. Perinatal strokes have not been reported with signs of limb ischaemia at birth; this finding may be a warning of possible simultaneous cerebral infarction.

Prolonged tension lag time of knee extensor muscle on twitch contraction in patients with spastic hemiparesis.

Tension lag time on electric stimulation (TLTe), i.e., latency from the stimulus to the rise of tension, and contraction time (CT) of the rectus femoris muscle on twitch contraction were measured on the affected and non-affected sides of eight patients with spastic hemiparesis due to stroke. Both TLTe and CT were significantly longer on the affected side than on the non-affected side, suggestin...

Robot-mediated upper limb physiotherapy for patients with spastic hemiparesis: a preliminary study.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical usefulness of the REHAROB Therapeutic System, which provides passive robot-mediated physiotherapy for patients with spastic hemiparesis. DESIGN Controlled, randomized, preliminary study. PATIENTS AND METHODS Thirty patients with hemiparesis as a consequence of upper motor neurone lesion were divided randomly into 2 groups: robotic and control. Subjects ...

Rehabilitation of hemiparesis after stroke with a mirror.

global burden of stroke is staggering (millions of strokes a year). Hemiparesis is one of the most common and disabling sequelae of stroke. In patients with immobile phantom limbs after amputation, vivid kinaesthetic sensations of movement can be evoked when the patient watches movement of the non-amputated hand or arm in a vertical parasagittal mirror. 1 Encouraged by a good initial result, 2 ...
